Stephen Chapman

The second incarnation of my blog

I had three running aims for 2014:

– Run four 10k races in 2014 ✔

– Run around Grafham water, a 14km undulating route ✔

Yesterday I returned to Wimpole Hall, the location of my first Parkrun in August 2012, so now I can tick off:

– Reach fifty Parkruns ✔

I can’t wait to get my t-shirt before a Parkrun sometime in the future.

And now on to my next list of aims…

Very well achieved, Sir! Congrats are def in order! I always say to do it while you can – and you’re doing just that.

Thanks Ray. I’m getting slower for some reason, but at least the running is keeping the beer gut under control!

If it’s a gradual slowing down although naturally disappointing, I think it’s understandable – unlike mine, for example, when I was running 8-10 miles with relative ease until suddenly, about 8 years ago, and almost overnight (slight exaggeration – but only slight) found that running even one mile was an uphill struggle all the way. Never discovered why it should have turned so quickly, and even now it’s almost impossible to run over 1.5 miles without stopping.
But you keeping your body in shape is a good further reason to keep it up. My reason ought to have been being diagnosed as diabetic (type 2) three years ago and so hard, regular exercise is even more important, though that doesn’t make running any easier – as you’re finding out in your own case.
