The second incarnation of my blog

This week I have been…

ImageWorking… all over the place in the past week and that pattern is set to continue from now on following a reorganisation at work. I have some new clients to meet and that’s always interesting and often challenging.

Watching… a few films with the first being Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and I have to say that I only found it mildly amusing. I’ve never been impressed by the Alan Partridge character and I couldn’t see why this was a film at all; it could easily have been a TV programme and it gets a steady 6/10.  The next film was an odd Italian film called I Am Love – it is a tragic love story that drifts from arty to dramatic. It struggled a bit and needed a little more story and this also get 6/10.  The final film was Elysium starring Matt Damon. Pete found this film to be “silly” and of course it is and the story is ludacrous, however I thought the idea was interesting (even if not executed well) and the effects were impressive – so a 7/10, with one point for the CGI.

Walking… along the beach in North Norfolk as we spent the weekend in West Runton mainly eating, drinking and walking.

Running… at a hilly and muddy Sheringham Park in Norfolk for my 19th Parkrun on Saturday morning. Oh for a flat course without mud and water obstacles!

Listening… to the 1996 REM album New Adventures in Hi-Fi which Pete picked at random to play. I haven’t heard it for a long time and have forgotten what a great album this is, definitely underrated as a piece of work. The tracks The Wake-Up Bomb and Bittersweet Me are just great rockers.

Alan Partridge is one of those characters whom one either ‘gets’ or one doesn’t – and I most emphatically DO. (But I’m one who didn’t find Morecombe and Wise funny, so what do I know?) I still think the original Partridge TV series (the chat show one) was the funniest thing I’ve seen on TV in the last two decades. If this feature film didn’t quite hit those particular heights it did still manage to tickle me pink at several points. (Hope there’s going to be another one or more!)
