Music recommendation: Rodriguez – Crucify your mind

A month ago I reviewed the film Searching for sugar man and now I’d like to recommend one of the tracks from Rodriguez’s 1970 album Cold Fact.  I am sure that there are many many amazing albums that never made it, but you have to wonder how he wasn’t a big star. His style was on par with Cat Stevens and Al Stewart.  But the album failed, except for Australia and the odd superstar status in South Africa that is the subject of the film.

I think that this is one of his best songs and is a good representation of his style – a bit poetic and simple but catchy melodies. The songs on both of his albums are improved further by some quality arrangements and production with strings on most tracks.
