Music recommendation: Blair Dunlop – Less The Pawn

I first saw Blair Dunlop at last years local world music festival (which sadly has lost it’s venue and has been postponed this year). He is a true folkie but likes to introduce a few subtle styles into his music. At only 21, he has some outstanding guitar skills and I expect big things, at least within the British folk scene.

This song is from his first album, Blight And Blossom, that was released recently – check out the cool album cover artwork. Yes, he has lovely eyes!

This is a catchy tune and features the great lines:

“My TV is acting funny too, it just hangs there on the wall
Playing channels that say it’s music, when it’s showing camouflage porn”

I can only find a live version, but it’s great all the same.  This performance shows that you don’t need lots of production to show that a song is good

If you like this song, check out the other recommendations I have made HERE.
