A plot of earth

A question on the WordPress site asked:

You’re given a plot of land and have the financial resources to do what you please. What’s the plan?

I’ve actually considered this before (how sad is that?!). In the village where I grew up is an old sand quarry, right next to the M20 motorway. When I was much younger, a lot of the quarry was a beautiful established wood with paths winding through it… and then one day, the JCBs moved in and levelled it.

Nowadays, the site has been used to extract many tons of sand and mostly left to nature. It’s a sad few acres with sandy unhealthy topsoil, a few weeds and the odd tree that survived the initial cull. So I would love to be able to afford to buy these few acres and plant hundreds of trees and shrubs to begin the long process of bringing nature back to a sorry looking place.

The village was/is a lovely place to live and building something for the local community to enjoy for centuries is my dream.
